Motor Vehicle Change of Ownership
This is a procedure that should be followed when a motor vehicle owner intends to transfer ownership of a motor vehicle to another person.
Requirements
- Motor vehicle license must be paid up to date.
- If a Bill of Sale is assigned to the motor vehicle, the necessary release documents must be presented from the relevant financial institutions.
- All parties/ owners must be present with a form of identification at the time of change.
- If the motor vehicle is registered to a company, the company’s stamp must be affixed to the form along with letter of authorization.
- If any of the parties are out of state, the change of ownership form must be notarized by a notary public in the country where that party resides.
- If the registered owner of the motor vehicle is deceased, the administrator/executor must present a grant of probate/letters of administration to effect transfer.
- A person authorized to transact on behalf of any party shall present the power of attorney as proof of authorization.
